Finally the day has arrived (or rather it did about a week and a half ago). I got myself a new bike.
My last bike, which is now standing in Mark’s basement, is from 1997. For quite some time it’s been driving me crazy, but since the future of my whereabouts have been quite uncertain I decided to not invest in a new bike.
Now that I’ve arrived in Australia and have nothing much to do until I find myself a job I thought it’d be really good to do some biking – especially since I no longer go to a gym on a regular basis – and so I bought a bike.
Since I’ve been longing for a new bike for so long I’ve had plenty of time to devise which kind of bike I would like.
Ever since I stayed in L.A. I’ve wanted a beach cruiser, and now I finally have one!
So far it’s pretty basic with no gear and just standard (aka. cheap) equipment. But that will all change when I receive my package from bike world USA in roughly a months time. Then I will get a new (very chick) saddle, new handles and some very cool/retro lights
Cant’t wait to equip my sweet ride and take it for a good long spin.
In the meantime here’s a photo of it for everyone to enjoy!

Taking to heart what Mark commented on my last tilt-shift photo I have tried working a bit more on some other photos I had lying around.
Some where quite good, others not so much. I have made a album on Picasa dedicated to my tilt-shifting experiments, which you can find here:
Of the photos I messed with this one from Westernland in Tokyo Disneyland is my favourite one so far.
Mark has also started to mess with tilt-shifting bit here on his photography blog: http://morsi.eu/2009/09/september-of-iphone-photography/

For a long time I’ve been fascinated by tilt-shift photography but haven’t really been able to find out how to do it with my current camera… that’s until I found this iPhone app yesterday. It makes it very easy to use tilt shifting on the iPhone, like the photo below.
The developer also has an Adobe air version that you can get on their website

My all-time favorite internet cartoon, The Joy of Tech, today brings this cartoon commenting on Disney’s planned takeover of Marvel.

For the last couple of months I’ve been contemplating buying Apple’s in-ear headphones as I (as probably the only person on this planet) actually enjoy Apple’s bundled headphones very much, but miss the passive noise cancellation that in-ear gives.
But I’ve been holding out with buying them as Apple’s yearly music event is coming up. It would be like Apple to introduce a new pair of headphones if I bought the current pair.
So if next wednesday doesn’t bring new headphones I guess I’ll be buying the current revision on thursday

Just read that Marvel is beeing baught by Disney! As some of you know I’m quite the Disneyphile and this is definitely a move I didn’t see coming… on the other hand I guess the current popularity of X-men, Ironman and the likes are just too tempting for a big company like Disney to pass up.
I can’t help but feel like I’ve seen this kind of thing before. Someone buying somthing very popular that is selling like crazy at the moment… Oh wait! Everyone buying tech stock back in 2000 because they were the safest bet for the future. Remind me again… how did that go! Oh yeah, not so good!
Well maybe I’m just being overly pessimistic. I guess tme will tell if the superhero franchise keeps on getting more popular over the next years, or if it’ll start declining as economic stability slowly returns.

It’s been a while since I rerally posted anything but junk!
Lately I’ve been preoccupied with preparing to leave for Australia. For now I’ll be living in Australia for the next year with my girlfriend.
I’ve been here for about two weeks now and I’m slowly starting to settle into daily life. I still haven’t found a job though so that’s what I’ll be looking into next.
Until then I’m enjoying the Australian winter by running around in tshirt, shorts and flip-flops (or thongs as they call them down here). So far it’s been around 20-25˚C everyday and mostly sunny, so I’ve been slowly working on my tan. Great times!
