So it’s Friday night and I’m hanging out with Søren.
After having talked for a bit we decided to get scientific and repeat my earlier blog post and see if the results lived up to our expectations… and what do you know! It worked. Even if wikipedia says otherwise!
As predicted by most rumor sites, Apple yesterday introduced a new version of the MacBook Pro, a new Cinema display, which is GORGEOUS, and finally the MacBook. I’ve never really been a fan of the aluminum enclosure of my PowerBook, but I must admit that the new models look very sleek. My plan’s always been to refresh my current Mac, when I graduated, which happened to coincide with this introduction so that’s perfect… now I just need to figure out where to get the money for it!
So why do you not like aluminum enclosures I hear some of you asking (well I guess I don’t, but explanation is gonna be given anywho!)! Well the thing is I’ve always found the iBook, later MacBook, white body quite cool and very hip. So when I decided to go with the 15′ PowerBook instead it was only because I believed it would last me longer. But seeing those white MacBooks all over campus got me jealous every single time. Furthermore I like using the two pronged european plug for my converter as it’s more universally usable when I go around town… only problem is that because the enclosure is metal it is slightly conductive, and I have a thing about getting electricity stored up in my body, so naturally I almost can’t use the computer when I use the two pronged plug. And frankly I think the aluminum enclosure is way to prone to scratching.
So seeing that the new MacBooks will adopt the aluminum enclosure my first thought was… guess I’m not getting a MacBook then! But looking at them closer they just look to irresistible anyway. So we’ll see when I get enough dough to get a new cool laptop.
On a side note I’m also looking to buy a new phone, and so far I’ve narrowed it down to three phones… The iPhone, the Nokia e71 and the SonyEricsson W902. The SE still isn’t out on the Danish market yet, but it looks pretty cool with a combination of a decent camera and a more sleek look than the C902. The iPhone is an obvious choice for me since I’m a Mac geek, but the plan is quite bad. Lastly I’m hearing a lot of positive things about the e71, but I have an aversion towards Nokia for some reason. So I keep holding back, hoping for a sudden divine inspiration! So if anyone out there have any reason to tell me not to buy one of the mentioned ones… or to specifically buy one of them, let me know in the comments.
One last thing I forgot to mention is what’s happening tomorrow. As other fans might have guessed from the title I am of course referring to tomorrows Apple event, which will likely introduce revised versions of the MacBook, and MacBook Pro, and who know maybe even the MacBook Air.
I’m not only mentioning this cause I’m a huge Mac fan, but also cause I’ve been wanting a new computer for quite some time now. My trusty PowerBook is still running in great shape, but I would like something slightly lighter and smaller now that I’m not gonna be using it as much anymore. So I’m really hoping for some great news tomorrow that’ll let me sell my current computer and buy a new one real soon.
But of course I’m also looking forward to yet another presentation by Steve Jobs. On a side note Engadget have started posting podcasts again, which should be a nice nerdy warmup for tomorrow.
This year Tivoli opened up their Halloween “party” a day early for annual passport holders. I took my Minsi by the hand and went to see it for the first time. The last times they’ve had it I haven’t been home, so I was quite excited to see what it’s like.
Anyone seen that old Disney short classic cartoon about the mill? This reminded me of one of the scenes… that is if you leave out the lights in the foreground.
It’s monday night and Minsi left a little over 48 hours ago. That means I’m all alone in my room now. Quite an odd feeling after having spent a long time together. Right now I don’t know when I’ll see her next time… I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it’s gonna be soon.
On the other hand now that she’s gone I’ve got more time for stuff like blogging, so I’ll do some more posts shortly. I have at least two in mind. One will be more photos. I got some pretty good shots while I was in Sydney this time, and wanna show them off. For those of you interested, my photos are also available to view here: http://picasaweb.google.com/et.jensen/
Not everything is equally interesting, but I do find some of them pretty decent.
Second post is a surprise… not a very amazing one, but I still think it’ll be a fun one!
Friday I handed in my thesis, so now I 'just' need to defend it orally later this month and then I'm gonna be finished with uni. In the meantime I've started working full time already. It's an odd feeling getting up early in the morning to get to work and then get back home and be sleepy around 10 o'clock. Hopefully that'll change once I get more into the swing of things.
Meanwhile Minsi's still here until Saturday so I'm trying to get the most out of our time together before I won't see her for another 2 months. It's just not the same when I leave in the mornings and come back in the evening!
