Yesterday was Sankt Hans in Denmark. That is the day where Danes celebrate the mid-summer by burning a witch on the stake… but that’s besides the point.
This year I went to Tivoli not only because they had a bonfire but mainly because on this day they introduced a new and improved version of their Tivoli Illuminations (I thought I had already covered the Tivoli Illuminations show before but can’t seem to find it) – a light, water, smoke and fire show in Tivoli.
As a big fan of fireworks shows and the like this show has always been right up my alley, though it have been lacking from the beginning. But allow me to back up a bit and talk about the introduction of Tivoli Illuminations.
Tivoli have always been famous for their lights decorations. It goes back all the way to around the 1840′s where the garden would be decorated with thousands of lights. In 2002 Tivoli took the next step and introduced Tivoli Illuminations a meeting of lights sounds, laser, fire, smoke and water. This combination was very pretty but the show (which was about 10 min) never seemed have a natural ending. The music didn’t really come to a conclusion, so the ending almost seemed like a anti-climax. This was my biggest issue from the beginning and the show have largely remained the same since it’s inception in 2002. So you can understand my joy when I saw that the show would get a long due restructuring.
The new show was then introduced after the traditional bonfire and I must say they have improved it quite a bit. First off all it seems more impressive than the old one, with more coherence between water, lights and music. And my biggest issue have been somewhat resolved… the end is now no longer an anti-climactic experience. Even so the show still lacks a bit compared to other similar concepts (e.g. Fantasmic at Disneyland).
Now if they would just improve on their last fireworks show and avoid the use of completely unrelated (for Tivoli) use of old movie soundtracks… guess I’ll have to see when they show their fireworks this year!

So of course Steve did indeed introduce the 3G capable iPhone… the aptly named iPhone 3G.
I looks pretty awesome and will luckily be introduced in Denmark on 11 July, so let’s see how much it’s gonna be =)
Something else was also introduced… not by Steve, but by Voodoo PC.
Most people who knows me know that I’m not a huge fan of Windows PCs but I must admit I did reconsider, when I saw the two new rigs from Voodoo PC.
First one is the Envy 133, their subnotebook. It looks amazingly sexy.
Second is their tower gaming rig, which is on sale by invitation only… but wow it looks sexy as well =)

In just 23 hours something magical will take place. Some of you might already know what I’m talking about, while others will now soon enough, cause tomorrow most of the western world will be abuzz with what is on one mans mind. A lot of people will start suffering from reality distortion to a smaller or larger degree. So who is this one man which has so much power you might ask! Well it’s none other than Steven P. Jobs, CEO of Apple.
And the buzz is of course over the Mac lovers equivalent of Christmas – The WWDC (World Wide Developers Conference) Keynote at 10 am (Eastern) tomorrow.
So for those of you who have been living under a rock (or those of you who happen to simply have a life) the Mac community is anxiously awaiting a follow up to last years success from apple – the iPhone. Rumors have it that tomorrow world suffering will end, when Steve Jobs is expected to launch the 3G capable iPhone. So in about 24 hours the world will either marvel over the new iPhone or the Apple stock will most likely crash and burn (and eventually recover when rumors of the iPhone start playing up again – thus completing the circle of life).
I myself am quite anxious to see if the iPhone will launch in Denmark anytime soon. Telia has announced that they will introduce the iPhone on the scandinavian market, but no time frame has been given. And I want a new phone sooo bad! But of course it’s not really important to me as I’ll be spending all my money flying to Japan to see Minsi (if you read this Minsi you’re of course more important than a new phone… but still!) so I won’t be able to afford one before I graduate and get a job. Maybe that’s the incentive that’ll get me to work some more on my thesis, so I can finish on time!

This post is another photo-showcase.
After getting my new camera I’ve been enjoying experimenting with catching sunsets and night time photos, which remains my favorite subjects to shoot.
Hope you like them as much as I do.
Australia
These pictures are the more experimenting ones I took while in Australia.
Evening flight from Cairns to Sydney
Sydney Harbour
Playing with macro-functionality in the rainforest
Evening sky in Sydney from a moving car
Nighttime photo safari in Copenhagen.
On the evening of the Oscars I had some time to kill and decided to go shoot some of the nighttime views of Copenhagen. I had fun but ended up with the flu! This night I was especially playing around with depth perception and focus.
Town square and Town hall.
Town square and one of the neon signs.
Jarmers Plads
There was something eerie, yet drawing about this scene.
Light/Dark
As some might have noticed I especially enjoy dusk and dawn for shooting. It’s especially interesting to catch the first and last beams of light during the day.
Sunrise from Kilen (the wedge).
Sunset over Copenhagen as seen from Tietgenkollegiet.
Moonlight over DR-byen.
Sunset playing in an airplane window.
