Sightseeing in Tokyo

Today is monday and I had originally planed to take care of some practicalities such as alien registration... that was until I realized that today is a national holiday :( well so much for that. So i decided that I would go for a run instead. I live close to a canal so I ran along that. I ended up running a bit over 6 km.

But yesterday I managed to go exploring in the neighborhood. I realized that a 15 walk from my place takes me to another city which has a rather charming downtown and shopping center. On a side note I'm rather proud of myself as I haven't yet spent any money on other stuff than food and transportation, though I've been tempted by the Japanese high tech products (like ultra portable computers and so on).

Saturday I started out going to a japanese test, which obviously didn't go so well, but I was offered to take some japanese courses for beginners. The only problem is that it might conflict with my studies as it would claim at least 9 hours of classes and preparation on top of that a week... I guess I'll figure it out when I've talked to supervisor sometime this week.
Afterwards I went with two other exchange students to the imperial palace to walk about the grounds (pictures below). Afterwards we went to the very chic Ginza where I visited (surprise, surprise) the Apple store.

This last one sort of reminds me of Central park in New York City. That reminds me of another "weird" thing about the area I live in. Not only does it have a very american styled supermarket... there's also a Denny's! So it reminds me a bit about the area I lived in in LA a couple of years ago. But at the same time it sort of reminds me of a city in Greece I've been to.

I will upload some pictures of the area and my room soon to show what I mean.
