Coming home!
It's 5:30 am friday and the sun hasn't risen yet. I am getting up and packing my stuff to catch the bus.
This is how I look at 6:30 am in the morning. Not an entirely pretty sight.
The sun rising. This is a good start on the day.
At 8:30 am I arrive at my destination, a former orange grove south of Los Angeles.
Here I am greeted with a welcoming "Welcome mr. Jensen" accompanied by a marching band.
At 9 am precisely a warm voice rises over the place saying how we for the the last 50 years have been a family and welcoming me and the other guests home. As some of you might have guessed I am at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California.
Guests waiting on Main Street for the rest of the park to open.
I start my day in Adventureland listening to the Tiki birds sing and taking a cruise in the jungle.
After that I continue to New Orleans square which to my surprise is not only decorated for the 50th anniversary but also for the holidays.

I decide to take a stroll of Tom Sawyer Island and are intrigued by how the trashcan are made to blend in with the backdrop.
After a couple of hours in the park I start looking more refreshed.
As it approaches noon I take what will turn out to be the only food I am going to get until around 10 pm...as healthy as I am over here it consists of a large portion of McDonalds french fries.
After that I make my way to the central hub to take in the castle, which aren't quite as impressive as the one in Paris.
It looks as if I could fit this into my room at home!
Going into Fantasyland I feel like I have been transported to either South Germany or Solvang.
The Peak of the Matterhorn behind old European inspired cottages.
I even get a glimpse of Peter Pan. I think I looked just as good :)
After having done some of my shopping on Main Street I go to the Main Street opera house to experience the history of Disneyland. Here I find a lot of interesting paintings and models. Most of them I already know from different books, but the centerpiece is quite astonishing, a 1/16 scale model of how Disneyland looked when it opened in 1955.
Imagineers have made this model as a celebration to Disneyland's 50th anniversary.
After having taken in the sight for a while I head over to Disney's California Adventure, which to my surprise is quite packed with people. It has gotten a reputation for being empty all the time. But apparently this isn't entirely true.
I am pleased to find out that California Screamin', the huge rollercoaster, is open again after having been closed for some time. This is how a rollercoaster is supposed to be. Unfortunately I don't have time enough to try it more than once as my day is coming to an end. I have to catch a bus to meet Bonnie for drinks and dessert in downtown LA to celebrate her having gotten an appartment.
The day is coming to an end as I get a shot of the Hollywood Tower Hotel in Disney's California Adventure.
After a long day I wait for the bus to take me back to downtown.
All in all it was a very nice trip and I managed to make up for all the pictures I didn't take on my first visit.
